YOUNG BUSINESS LEADERS HAVE THEIR SAY AT THE 2018 PRE-BUDGET FORUM

In what was seen as a new twist to the usual Pre-budget breakfast meeting organised by the MBA Alumni Association, University of Colombo together with Daily FT and with the strategic partnership of Standard Chartered Bank, this time the up and coming young leaders who are in the wings to take over their business were invited to the Hilton on the 13th September. These young business leaders proved to the Minister and to one another that they were equal to the task and were aware of the economic direction Sri Lanka was heading.

Minister Mangala Samaraweera in his remarks promised that this year's budget would re-examine the financial policy framework in a backdrop of reconciliation and reconstruction. He said he would introduce greater liberalisation and entrepreneurship, a point not missed by the young audience. He was ready to listen to the business leaders secrets “We will certainly take into account your proposals in what is likely to be the world's first Designer Budget". He said that he is available 24/7 for discussion.

Each of the business leaders was given 3 minutes to express their industry concerns. At the end of the Forum, the State Minister Eran Wickremaratne responded to the suggestions of the young leaders.
